Porcelain veneers
Have you ever dreamed of having a movie star smile? Do you want whiter or straighter teeth without having to do reoccurring whitening treatments or years of braces? Well, porcelain veneers might be just the solution for you. Veneers are minimally invasive tooth coverings that cosmetically enhance your smile. Think a jacket for your tooth. Veneers are different from dental crowns or caps as the dentist only needs to file down a small portion of the tooth structure. Veneers can give you the smile you have dreamed of in as little as 4 weeks. Veneers is part of our offerings from your experienced cosmetic dentist in Sebring. We also offer dental implants, though they are a bit different from veneers.
To start our dentist will take photos and molds of your teeth before any work is completed in your mouth. Next, your teeth will be prepped for your temporary veneers. On the prepping day, you will be nice and comfortable in the dental chair. The dentist removes the smallest amount of your enamel while the dental assistant is there to help you remain comfortable. The smallest about of enamel is removed to be able to bond on your temporary and permanent veneers. Molds are taken and sent to our dental labs to create your custom smile. After a few weeks the permanent veneers can be cemented. Veneers are the fastest option for changing your smile and we promise that they won’t look a chiclets.
There are a few things we need to tell you about veneers:
- Sleep Habits: You can definitely chip your veneers, so we advise everyone with veneers to get a nightguard to protect your teeth while you sleep.
- No hard or sticky foods: Do not bite directly into hard foods like carrots, apples, and corn on the cob. All dentists will tell you no matter how tasty taffy is, it’s not worth it.
- Staining can happen: Porcelain can get discolored if you drink a lot of acidic drinks like lemonade, coffee, tea, and wine. Smoking can also discolor the bonding used to adhere the veneers. (Thankfully porcelain is stain-resistant)
- Prior to your veneers: Your gums must be healthy. So if we have informed you that you are in need of gum therapy or a deeper cleaning, that must be completed first.
After your veneers are completed, remember to always keep up to date on your dental cleanings and your checkup. Veneers can last a decade or longer if you take care of them but like all the good things in life you will need to replace them. We can help you will brand new veneers or discussing if it’s time to replace your current veneers.
